Stride News

COvid-19 Pandemic

STRIDE has reopened and is offering most of its products and services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Limited delivery service is available to exterior locations only. Alternately, equipment orders can be picked-up at our door. We continue to do only curbside pickups and deliveries, i.e. we do not enter private residences (which includes apartment buildings), seniors' residences, long term care facilities, hospitals, or group homes.

Donated equipment can be dropped off, please contact us for an appointment

Our Mission

STRIDE Wheelchairs Plus Recycling Depot is a project undertaken by STRIDE Assistance for the Disabled, Inc., a registered, non-profit, charitable organization which operates solely by a dedicated team of volunteers consisting of retired engineers, former health care professionals, persons with disabilities, or family members of a person with a disability.

STRIDE Wheelchairs Plus holds three values at its core.

Safety

Equipment donated to STRIDE Wheelchairs Plus goes through a rigorous refurbishment process which includes disassembly, close examination of individual parts to check for cracks, replacement/repair of parts as needed, and cleaning. Before reassembly, touch-up painting, as necessary, is done to restore the item to its best possible appearance.

SUITABILITY

We rely on the input from referring Occupational and Physiotherapists for the correct measurements.

Purchasing a wheelchair for daily use is like buying a pair of shoes…. it must fit the user.

AFFORDABILITY

We make every attempt to accommodate each individual’s specific circumstances.

“Why buy new when used will do?”

Services

Equipment Donations

Stride Wheelchairs Plus accepts donations of good and complete health care equipment and completely refurbishes them. The refurbished equipment is then sold at a fraction of what new equipment costs.

Pickup and Delivery

We provide a delivery service to the Ottawa area including Kanata, Orleans, Barrhaven, and Bells Corners for a fee of $25.00 one way or $40.00 for a two way trip. We perform deliveries weekly on Thursdays.

When picking up equipment being donated there is a collection fee of $10.00
